Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology is committed to protecting the privacy and security of the personal and health information that we collected and treating this information with the utmost confidentiality. We adhere to the requirements of the Australian Privacy Laws and endeavour to disclose to you, the clients, as to why we collect information, how it is used at Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology and to whom the information might be disclosed.

Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology collects written information for the purpose of providing an accurate assessment and treatment for your child. Personal information relating to your name and contact details will be used for the purpose of invoicing accounts, processing payments and contacting you in relation to your appointments and our services. This information is collected via the registration/ parent contract form that a family completes.

Families will complete a parent registration form which enables you to indicate if you consent to your child’s medical information being shared with a third party, eg teacher or other specialist.  Disclosure will not be made to any other person who is not involved in either your child’s treatment or the administration of Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology without your prior consent.

Storage of Private information

Information regarding your child’s speech therapy sessions, referrals or letters from specialists involved in the care and treatment of your child may be held by Cheeky Monkey via two methods:

Notes, assessments and other materials are held electronically at Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology.  We use the Google cloud platform, which is compliant with the ISO 270001 certification.

We use also use Halaxy for payments, appointment bookings, clinical notes and storage of other materials. Halaxy is operated from Melbourne, and data for Australian practitioners is stored within Australia in securely protected data centres with multiple backups in place. This data is protected by 256-bit bank grade security and encryption, meaning patient records, notes, and payment information are protected to the same level required by Australian banks.

For practitioners in the EU, data is stored in the EU in accordance with GDPR requirements. This data is also protected by 256-bit bank grade encryption, with multiple backups in place.

Access to data is restricted, patient and practitioner data is anonymised, and data transmissions are encrypted. In the event of a data breach, an internal policy and response plan has been prepared in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches Scheme.

When Halaxy integrated with funding bodies (such as Medicare and DVA), Halaxy passed system-wide security and operational tests to be permitted to integrate with these governmental bodies.


Cheeky Monkey Speech website collects information via cookies regarding how you use our website. The information collected by cookies allows us to statistically monitor how many people are using the website and how they are using the website.  Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology may also include a third party cookie from Google in order to use Google Analytics to monitor site statistics.  Please note that Google and its wholly owned subsidiaries may retain and use, subject to the terms of its Privacy Policy (, or such other URL as Google may provide from time to time), information collected in your use of the service.


Most browsers offer instructions on how to reset the browser to reject cookies in the ‘Help’ section of the toolbar. You do not have to accept our cookies in order to use the Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology site. We do not use cookies to collect or store personal health information about you.

Contact Us Page

The Contact Us page is the primary means of communication between Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology and a website visitor.  The Contact Us page does not ask for any personally identifiable information and information gathered or sent via this page is not stored permanently by Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology.


Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology employs reasonable security measures to protect the personal information You submit to it. Such security involves the use of SSL-secured Web forms, firewalls and other company employed security methods.


Cheeky Monkey Speech Pathology website contains links to other sites owned by third parties.  These links are provided solely as a resource and we take no responsibility for security of these sites.

Cancellation Policy:

Our main aim in therapy is for your child to succeed.  Best practice for speech therapy recommends in the majority of cases that a child attends fortnightly sessions.  To do this we ask families to book fortnightly appointments at a regular time.  These appointments are held for the families for the year, or until 2 weeks notice is given by a family that they will no longer attend, or the therapist discharges the child. The regular booking helps with consistency and allows for all parties to commit to the child’s Speech Therapy program and goal achievement. It also helps you to be able to organise other appointments or notify school/kindergarten as needed. 

We understand that things come up, however as a clinic we are unable to absorb the cost of multiple cancellations and missed appointments. Most families require regular appointments so when a family calls to cancel an appointment, your allocated appointment time cannot often be filled. 

If a family needs to cancel an appointment for any reason including holidays (outside of school holiday break), school excursions, clashes with other appointments or any other reason,  notification needs to be given via email, in writing or phone call and given on the first appointment of each term.  Any cancellations of your regular scheduled appointment time that are received after the first appointment of term, will incur a $25 cancel/holding fee, to hold ongoing appointments. This allows us to maintain your next scheduled appointment. This fee applies to any session cancelled due to illness and prior commitments. 

If a family fails to inform us of the cancellation, the appointment is considered to have been a “Did not attend” and 75% of the appointment cost will be invoiced and this payment will be required prior to your next scheduled appointment. 

Regular therapy requires a high level of commitment from all parties and we understand that this commitment may not suit all families and their individual circumstances. If you would prefer to consider a ‘book as you go’ option and avoid cancellation/holding fees, then please contact the administration team who can discuss this option. 

Cheeky Monkey Speech, reserves the right to void the privilege of holding a specific time for families who repeatedly do not attend or cancel more than two appointments per term, regardless of the amount of notice provided.  We will always discuss alternative booking options and be supportive and understanding where possible, so we urge families to call and let us know about exceptional circumstances so we can do what we can to come to an agreement that suits all parties.  

Special Circumstances: Charges may be waived if the customer has experienced a catastrophe, eg emergency hospitalisation or a death in the family. The decision to waive the fee in extenuating and emergency circumstances will be made by the Director of Cheeky Monkey Speech at their discretion. The decision not to charge does not apply in any other circumstances and is not exercisable by other staff.
